Boston is my favourite city in the USA (with San Francisco a close second). I need very little persuasion to leave my lair in the depths of Kent, abandon the hop fields and jump on a flight.
I first went to Boston in 2001 when we did a speaking slot at the Seybold conference (remember those) and Boston was still a bit of a building site with the delayed railway. 2010 was my most recent visit, when I came back for the Business of Software Conference. And a month later I miss being there…
So why is Boston such an amazing place? I think it manges to mix the best of America and the UK, so it feels familiar and a bit different.
It has a great park, some fantastic bookshops (my daughter complained that she could not get SkyClan’s Destiny in the UK) and lots going on. I spent one day trying to squeeze in lots of shopping (my family sent me with a long list) and another watching the whales off the coast. I have the Boston Aquarium penguin webcam on my browser so I catch-up on their antics when I need a distraction.
What is your favourite thing about Boston (or is another city even better)?
