SVG was always a promising future technology (and looked like it always would be)….
Well, its day may finally arrived as browsers now offer decent support for it. In some cases it offers a good, even better, alternative to HTML5. For example, SVG provides much better results when scaling up than HTML5 canvas.
Much of the technologies for SVG and HTML5 are very similar – CSS, font technologies, and many language similarities. So it will not be a huge surprise that as well as building a PDF to HTML5 converter, we have now added in a PDF to SVG converter as part of the package…
PDF to SVG conversion now comes as standard with our PDF to HTML5 converter and you can either use it from the existing example or there is a standalone example. Details on using it are here. This is the first release so please let us have your feedback. We cannot choose between SVG and HTML5 so we have given you the choice. What do you think?
IDRsolutions develop a Java PDF library, a PDF forms to HTML5 converter, a PDF to HTML5 or SVG converter and a Java Image Library that doubles as an ImageIO replacement. On the blog our team post about anything interesting they learn about.
