Three things I’m looking forward to at Devoxx 2013

Soon I will be attending Devoxx 2013 in Belgium (arguably Europe’s biggest IT event organised by Geeks for Geeks). The schedule is published in advance so that you can plan your trip in before the event. You can choose what to attend (or see what you’re missing!) here.

I  have planned my time at Devoxx and these are the top three things I am most looking forward to at Devoxx.

1. What’s new in JavaFX 8

Jim Weaver and Stephen Chin will be doing a presentation covering a lot of the new features introduced in JavaFX 8 as well as demonstrating some of them in action!
I’m particularly looking forward to this due to my recent work using JavaFX to implement an FX version of our Java PDF Viewer.
I beleive I will learn many useful techniques and features that will provide invaluable help with my ongoing work using JavaFX.

2. Java 8 Keynote

Mark Reinhold, Chief Architect of the Java Platform Group at Oracle, will be presenting the Java 8 Keynote at Devoxx 2013.
If that is not enough of a reason to be excited, he will be speaking about all the advancements in Java 8 as well as any yet to come…
This Keynote not only promises to be very interesting, but also very educational, insightful and inspirational. I’ll be sure to see it!

3. Devoxx Party at Noxx

The Devoxx 2013 party will be held at Noxx on Thursday 14th.
After a week of great talks and conferences it will be nice to kick back and enjoy an amazing night in Antwerp with some music and dancing.
What’s more, free drinks will be provided, what’s not to look forward to?
So those are the three things I am most looking forward to at Devoxx 2013.

Will you be at Devoxx?
What are you most excited about?
Have you been before?

Details are on the Devoxx website.
