What I am expecting from my first Business of Software

1 min read

It has almost become a tradition here at IDRsolutions to attend the Business of Software conferences: whether it is in Boston or Cambridge, we have been there, done that and learnt a lot. Business of Software USA 2019 will be my first time attending and I am very excited to learn as much as I can and meet a lot of interesting people. Naturally, the expectations have been set very high but here 4 things that I am expecting from my first Business of Software.

Great speakers
The speakers at BoS are founders, CEOs, CSOs and product strategists of successful companies and will, therefore, provide us with practical and applicable insights. Having read April Dunford’s book on positioning and listened to Steli’s BoS talk from a previous year, I can’t wait to see what novel content they have planned to tell us about. Adaora Asala will be talking about AI and Thompson Aderinkomi will be demystifying some myths about building a company and those talks should be on your list if you are attending.

Easygoing environment
From the Slack Channel where attendees can start introducing themselves even before the conference starts to the coloured lanyards that help identify nervous first-timers (such as myself), everything indicates that Business of Software likes to welcome everyone very warmly.

Networking
Business of Software provides a variety of opportunities to meet the other attendees, speakers, catch up and make new friends. It will be a great opportunity to engage with a variety of people in different stages, areas and experiences in the software industry.

Brainstorming opportunities
At the Unconference Sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a lightly moderated problem-solving session on a subject they want to learn about. As someone that has recently joined the software industry, I am excited with the possibility of learning firsthand from those who already trialled and errored in the industry.

IDRsolutions develop a Java PDF library, a PDF forms to HTML5 converter, a PDF to HTML5 or SVG converter and a Java Image Library that doubles as an ImageIO replacement. On the blog our team post about anything interesting they learn about.
