DevFest is over for another year, but one of the great things about speaking at conferences is the chance to visit lots of interesting places. Having previously visited the beautiful San Francisco (you can find some photos on our Facebook) this year IDR Solutions was lucky enough to be able to be one of the Sponsors of DevFest 2014, and Mark Stephens was a speaker at the Conference. So the IDRsolutions team took the opportunity to explore the beauty that Istanbul has to offer.
Istanbul sites of Interest
Istanbul is an Ancient city and still lives with the legacy of its history. The photos below give you a glimpse of what the city as to offer and you can see the IDR Solutions Team relaxing before and after DevFest with friends.
Mark Stephens actually has an MA degree in Mediaeval History from St. Andrews University so he organised his own guided tour for several other speakers….
The DevFest Conference
The second DevFest Istanbul (a free developer conference in one of the world’s most amazing cities) was at a new venue because of the high turnout (3,000 people) who enjoyed FOUR tracks of talks. The IDR Solutions team were busy that day!
Our Feline Friends
On the last visit to Istanbul Mark Stephens found that there was a large number of cats out and about, this year was no different. The IDR Solutions team this year took a nice selection of them.
Should I attend next year?
Not only is there are lots of other places to visit (really you need a week to spend and explore in Istanbul). But Many of the sites are close together in the area known as Sultanahmet or easy to reach. The city is full of history (and cats) and this is only the bonus. For Coders, Developers and Programmers its the place to be and DevFest is set to grow bigger and bigger each year and this year with more attendees attending its likely it will continue to be the definitve event to attend.
I hope it will encourage you to visit this wonderful city.
