At IDRsolutions, we take our training very seriously. But that is for another article…
We also value the chance to hang out as a team and have some fun (life is too short not to). So twice a year we have a ‘training’ day which is really a chance for us to all get together as a group and for new people to get to know the rest of the team.
Friday was our Autumn training day in London and we were careful to arrange in advance for the weather to be sunny….
Our training kicked off with 2 Escape rooms at AIM Escape rooms where we split into 2 teams to play Patient Zero 2150 and Spy Heroes. These were some challenging (and well designed) puzzles across multiple rooms. We were not allowed to take photos inside, but we did manage to save the world (twice!) with no casualties and time to spare!
Our next stop was the Gunpowder Plot Immersive experience by the Tower. This was produced by the same people who created the War of the Worlds experience and consisted of us infiltrating the Guy Fawkes plot to blow up parliament and deciding whether to give the details to the kings agents. It was a mixture of sets, actors and some CGI with visors. Pretty accurate historically and lots of fun!
After all that saving the world we were all very hungry so a late lunch at the Pho Vietnamese Restaurant. It seems we were motivated to find any challenge by this point….
As has become traditional, the day finished with some (not too competitive) darts and some impressive bullseyes!
Our next training day will be in the Spring where we will face a whole load of new challenges (and some more darts).
