One of the big themes of 2019 was running software in the Cloud using technologies such as Docker. The most commonly asked support question we received was how to set up and run our software on Cloud platforms. If you visit our support site, you will see we have been very busy adding tutorials on Docker and running it from AWS, Digital Ocean, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.
Docker is the most popular way to run software on the Cloud because makes it even simpler and easier to setup software to run. And it is available on all Cloud platforms and well documented. Docker allowed us to specify a container set up exactly how we want it. It was simple to set up and have an image loaded with our application and an application server to handle connections. Once the content has been specified it is only a simple matter to using 1 command and the container is running and ready for the user to connect and use. If you are keen to try Docker we have some really nice examples to try.
Other cloud solutions
Another solution is Lambda, which allows you to build micro-services to call. In 2020, we will be running some posts on How to build your own Micro-service on Lambda. We will use our BuildVu software to create an example PDF to HTML5 micro-service. Stay tuned for some exciting articles in 2020.
Would you like to see any other aspects of running software on the Cloud covered on our blog in 2020?
