Training days in action
It’s easy to get lost in Java, PDF documents and file conversions. However, we always ensure we clear up our schedule for a long, hard day of training. We are very strict about our training days! They create the opportunity for our team of 10 to build our bond.
We have just returned from our training day and would love to take you along the journey with us. We time-travelled back to explore the Churchill War Rooms. Next, we teleported into virtual realities with OTHERWORLD, where we were able to explore our survival skills and test out if we would’ve been battlefield material. We visited Cyprus Managal for its authentic Turkish cuisine and it did not disappoint. Finally, what is a training day without a super competitive game of darts to establish the strongest and weakest links in the team?
Team building activities for work
Some of the team-building activities we have completed in the past or have considered include an escape room, sip and paint, life-size games, bowling and pottery. This time, we started our day by time-travelling to 1939 to meet up with Churchill at the Churchill War Rooms. This was an interactive underground museum experience, covering the history of WWII. We were all given a device that acted as an audio guide to take us through the experience at our own pace.
Churchill War Rooms
We viewed interactive exhibitions and displays about the history of Churchill and life during WWII. Halfway through the exhibition, there was a lovely cafe and at the end of it, there was also a gift shop. We recommend the Churchill War Rooms to teams that appreciate history or want a unique London experience.
OTHERWORLD VR
Next, we went to OTHERWORLD for a VR experience. On arrival, we were kindly met by a member of staff who talked us through what to expect and how to use the VR sets, and then gave us personal recommendations.
Some of the games we played enhanced our teamwork as we had to communicate and trust each other to survive and escape, we would recommend Labrinth if this is something your team would enjoy. In other games like Hyper Dash, we competed against each other. We believe that healthy competition creates a good environment for productivity. We booked for a 55-minute session, but it was longer due to the 10-minute introduction and additional time they gave us. Bear this in mind if you have any reservations afterwards.
Cyprus Mangal
At IDR solutions, we appreciate authentic Turkish cuisine. Cyprus Mangal has delicious food, great service and a lovely ambience. We appreciate the complimentary fresh warm bread and Turkish delight to finish. We value our wholesome lunches where we bond over good conversations. As we mentioned earlier, it’s easy to get lost in Java, PDF documents and file conversions so, we must have times like this to improve our work-life balance.
Flight Club Darts
To end our training day, we had a competitive 90-minute game of darts at the Flight Club Victoria. We often play relaxing games to end our eventful training days, so we can also keep discussions going. The customer service was great! We played in teams of 2 and had several games to choose from, so we changed the teams around after each one so everyone had a chance to team up.
Benefits of team building
Team building through activities offers numerous benefits for both individuals and the team as a whole. These activities help improve our communication and gain a better understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. They also promote collaboration by encouraging teamwork and trust, leading to more effective problem-solving and decision-making.
Additionally, training days can increase motivation, creating a positive work environment. It provides opportunities for us to develop leadership skills and build stronger relationships, which can lead to increased productivity and job satisfaction. Overall, our training days are a valuable investment in our performance as a team.
We are already thinking about our next training day! Do you have any recommendations?
